ABOUT

Our detailed understanding of planning, design and heritage management means that THE HERITAGE PLACE is ideally suited to undertake a wide range of research and analysis.

CEO Deborah Mays IHBC is a built and historic environment specialist with over twenty-five years' experience of statutory designations, education, research and the planning control process. She has written and lectured widely on heritage matters throughout her career. After obtaining a PhD from the University of St Andrews she began work with Historic Scotland where, after gaining a considerable range of skills, she became Director of Policy and Outreach. She then joined the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, latterly serving as Assistant Secretary, and served as CEO of the Scottish Building Contract Committee. She is an Honorary Lecturer at Strathclyde University, a Visiting Fellow at University Campus Suffolk and an accredited Full member of the IHBC. Deborah has recently been appointed as Director of the Berwickshire Housing Association.​
